90s Grungy Lolita Hair Tutorial (Heatless Option!)
Hello!
Here is the hair tutorial that I mentioned in the last post. It's not remotely complicated, nor do you need to use heat if you don't want to. It's sorta grungy, but it still has a dolly element (hence the name), and for sure gives me 90s vibes! Depending on how you do your makeup, you can take it in either direction. Paired with mascara, smudgy liner, and a darker lip shade (Mauve, Berry, Dark Red, Black, etc) it goes full blown grunge (sorry, I keep using that word). On the other hand, light shimmery eye shadow, mascara, a light lip color or gloss (Peach, Bubblegum), and a ribbon gives you a very sweet, girly style. It's really up to you!
-Things you will need-
Teasing comb or brush
Hair elastic of your choice
Straightener or hair crimper (optional)
Hair accessories (flowers, bows)
Now the first step is pulling up the front into a high pony tail. I typically start at the back of my ears, and go on an angle to my crown.
Now, if you like, you can tease the underside of the pony a little, like I did here.
Make sure you smooth the top so it's not too bumpy.
Take your hair elastic and wrap it around you pony as many times as you can. On the last wrap, make a small bun like this.
Tug on the bun a little bit to make it more messy, and move the tails around to fan it out. I like to pull out little pieces in the front, but it's up to you. Now, if you braided your hair the night before, you can skip to teasing. If not, you can use either a crimper or straightener to give the top more body. I used a straightener, as the crimper is pretty straight forward.
Grab a piece of hair about 1 inch thick. Holding the straightener horizontal, start from the top and twist the straightener about 90 degrees upwards, pulling it down about half an inch.
Now, turn it inwards about 180 degrees, and move it down another half an inch
When you're done it will look something like this.
You can leave it like this, but I personally think hair accessories always look good. Here, I tied a piece of ribbon around the base of the bun, and made a bow.
Flowers also look nice.
And you're done! I think this is such a cute style, and gets some of your hair off your face!
Thank you so much for reading! Hope you like it!

Repeat these steps all the way down your piece of hair.
You have to get the hang of it, but it should look something like this.
Continue to do this all over your head. When you finish, start gently teasing the roots to give it more body. You can use a hair product if you like, but I usually don't.When you're done it will look something like this.
Flowers also look nice.
